Whistleblowing Policy

Whistleblowing Policy

Speaking up to keep everyone safe

At Neffy Care Services Limited, we believe that the safety and wellbeing of our clients and staff come first — always.

We are committed to creating an open, honest, and supportive culture where everyone feels confident to speak up about concerns without fear of discrimination or punishment.

Whistleblowing is not about getting anyone into trouble — it’s about protecting the people we care for and ensuring we continue to provide safe, high-quality care.

What Is Whistleblowing?

Whistleblowing is when someone reports a serious concern about wrongdoing, unsafe practices, or risks to people’s safety that affect the care we provide.

Examples include:

  • Poor care or unsafe working practices
  • Neglect, abuse, or exploitation of clients
  • Health and safety risks
  • Breaches of confidentiality or data protection
  • Fraud or financial misconduct
  • Attempts to cover up mistakes or wrongdoing

We want staff, clients, and families to feel safe and supported in raising any of these issues.

Our Commitment

At Neffy Care Services Limited, we:

  • Take all concerns seriously
  • Treat all whistleblowers fairly and with respect
  • Investigate issues quickly, confidentially, and thoroughly
  • Protect staff from any form of victimisation or retaliation
  • Learn from every concern raised to improve our service

We are fully compliant with the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 and CQC Regulation 17 (Good Governance).

Safeguarding Children Policy

Protecting every child, every time

At Neffy Care Services Limited, we believe that all children and young people have the right to be protected from harm, abuse, and neglect.
Although we primarily provide care to adults, we recognise that our carers and staff may come into contact with children through the families and households we support.

We are committed to promoting the safety, wellbeing, and rights of children in everything we do.

Our Commitment

We will always:

  • Protect children and young people from abuse, neglect, or exploitation
  • Train our staff to recognise and report any safeguarding concerns
  • Act quickly and appropriately to protect children at risk
  • Work in partnership with local authorities, health, and social care professionals
  • Comply fully with the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) guidance

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility — and we take that duty seriously.

Recognising Abuse

Our staff are trained to recognise signs of abuse, which may include:

  • Physical abuse: hitting, shaking, or causing injury
  • Emotional abuse: bullying, humiliation, or intimidation
  • Sexual abuse: inappropriate contact or exploitation
  • Neglect: failing to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, or care
  • Domestic abuse: harm caused by witnessing or being exposed to violence in the home

We always take any concern — no matter how small — seriously.

Reporting Concerns

If a member of staff suspects that a child is being abused or is at risk, they must report it immediately to their line manager or the Registered Manager.

We will:

  • Record the concern accurately and confidentially
  • Report it to the Local Authority Children’s Social Care Team
  • Take immediate action to ensure the child’s safety
  • Inform the Police if the child is in immediate danger

All staff understand that it is their duty to report, not to investigate.

Confidentiality and Information Sharing

We handle all safeguarding information with great care and confidentiality.
Information will only be shared with relevant professionals and agencies to protect the child and prevent further harm, in line with UK GDPR and data protection laws.
